I agree with you, but the seething hatred towards Cruz of many Trumpsters outweighs ALL other considerations.
Actually, Ford got almost a million more popular votes than Reagan in the primary of 76. And he was the incumbent. It was a very situation than this.
Trump has 2 million more votes than Cruz. Neither is an incumbent. So why pick Cruz?
