No, the circumstances vary by the type of voting machine being used. In some circumstances an alert voter may notice the problem before striking a key, or not. In other circumstances the voter can review the vote before striking any further keys and complains to the poll workers. The worst cases are when the vote flip does not occur until the Enter key is used, after which the poll workers may protest saying they have no possible means to cancel or reverse that flipped vote.
