The New York Times obviously hasn't studied the results in detail, Cruz did not 'soundly defeat' Trump, in fact these numbers should be a concern for Cruz, and if Trump is the big liberal that his detractors claim, how is it the far-left liberal hell hole of Madison and environs went strong for Cruz?

It’s amazing, although not surprising, how the media spins Trump’s loss in Wisconsin (the potential end of the road; devastating) vs. the way they spin clinton’s loss (’not really expected to win anyway since Wisconsin is “very white”).

Why would I care what your tag says?

If you’re speaking of either Rush, who believe with all his heart that Rubio was a true blue conservative - or Levin, who has clearly become more than a tad irrational, no, I don’t need to listen to either of them.

What is your point?

Ted is a tool, how you keep overlooking that is baffling.

He’s been bought - plain and simple

You must like the Bush family, they are so honorable!
And Ryan, there’s a stalwart of conservatism packed into one body!
Or Singer, the dude who is all in for gay marriage and Lord only knows what else.
Or Club for Growth who demands endless immigrants, illegal or not, doesn’t matter.

Live with your choice HR, I reject it completely.

Reality is not that difficult once you open your eyes.

Not only that, a lot of Trump people will sit out an election where the candidate coming to the convention with the most votes and most delegates is denied by the party.

A fair amount see no real difference between the D’s and R’s, other than the window dressing we see and the speed of going to Hell in a handbasket.

I’d vote against Hillary, but if the GOP convention chose someone who ends up beating her, I’d expect to get screwed hard post election when it comes to the big issues of immigration, trade and national security.

Obama may have been our national suicide, and this election is simply the body twitching.

I hear your point on the percentage pro ratas, and that is why I said it is impossible for Kasich-Cruz to win a direct nomination now, and highly-improbable-to-impossible for Trump to win (as it would require him constantly winning, from now on, percentages that he has not won in the past). thus, I am fully in agreement with you there.

The issue I have is the expectation that the result of a Brokered Convention will be Cruz coming out on top. the GOPe will never allow that, and unfortunately a good number of delegates have their allegiance to the GOPe. If it even gets to a fourth vote, you can be sure that there will be another person - selected by the GOPe as a 'unifying candidate' - and that person will be the Republican candidate. That candidate will not be Trump, and that candidate will not be Cruz.

At the Convention, someone like Kasich actually has a better chance than Trump and Cruz. I am not saying it will be Kasich, just saying he has a better chance than the other two at a Convention.

Anyway, I hope you are correct and that the result of a convention will be a Cruz win (I am one of the few who are okay with Trump or Cruz and has decided not to get involved in stupid anti-Trump/anti-Cruz vitriol).

Unfortunately, I fully expect that you will be disappointed, and that the GOPe will put one of their own.

You will be further disappointed in the General Election when Hillary steamrolls the GOP and wins the 270 needed to win the presidency. People are focusing on the 1,243 when they should be looking at the 270, and the result of a Brokered Convention will be many Republican/Conservative voters refusing to vote. Already the Republican Party suffers from a Demographic disadvantage, that only keeps growing every 4 years, and disenfranchised voters simply make it more possible for the Democrats to win.

Let me stop now and let FR continue with its anti-Trump/anti-Cruz bashing. After all, as members of the 'Stupid Party,' FReepers should have a full opportunity to engage in the self-defeating games the wider party is engaged in.

You know Trump has a better record in open primaries, right? If your theory is correct, they seem to be trying to give us Trump, not Cruz.

I would like to remind you that Reagan was also very low in the polls when he won the nomination.

Do you guys really think Cruz can win a national election?

I don't see him winning a single swing state.

I'm not sure that's true. It's more accurate to say that Cruz has a better record in early caucus states and, IMO, that has more to do with demographics than anything else. I think we're in a new phase of this battle and the dynamics of the battle have changed significantly because there are only three candidates now. What happened a few months ago is not terribly relevant to what is happening now.

I have looked at the data in Ohio and I'm utterly convinced that there was heavy Dem crossover for John Kasich in areas that are known to be Democratic strongholds, Cuyahoga county and Franklin county for example. Dems elected John Kasich in Ohio and it was reported on but widely ignored by the media.

And this is interesting as well: Dems Think Crossover Voters Helped Kasich Win GOP Primary

If you look at the Wisconsin Republican primary numbers in 2012 and 2016, it's clear that there were about 305,000 more Republican votes cast and many of them came from areas known to be Democratic strongholds.

It's also clear that Donald Trump won about 37,000 more votes in Wisconsin that Mitt Romney did and, yet, Mitt Romney won the Wisconsin primary.

This adds up to Dems crossing over.

how is it the far-left liberal hell hole of Madison and environs went strong for Cruz?

Because the minions of hell in Madison and environs were all voting for Bernie, leaving the saving remnant, who exist even in Madison, to vote for Cruz.

Well thanks for straightening us all out about that.

(of course it never occurred to you that 'RAT voters might have crossed over for Cruz because they would prefer to see Hillary eviscerate that hyper-religious wannabe dominionist 'king' Saint Ted?)

Noooo, never even crossed your mind.

Ted can win, The Donald can win, but in the end Mrs. Bill is the one still smiling. People like Mrs. Bill.

I'll bite and say their may be a very slim chance Ted could actually win in N.Y.

Very well said. And after a self-imposed period of mostly lurking, I have decided to focus on what must happen to thwart the plans of the party establishment; that being a Trump-Cruz alliance. Recall that a version of that worked to thin out the herd.

It is up to these two to unite in getting a Rules Package to the floor that assures that ONLY one of the two's names may be put into nomination. That locks the door on the Rove/Romney strategy.

How an alliance works out in the long run is uncertain to my mind. But, it is clear to me that a war to the death between the two pretty much leaves the establishment calling all the shots.

We at the base need to be smarter than our preferred candidate have shown themselves to be so far.

Hating on Levin and Limbaugh are two primary symptoms of liberalism.
But then Trump is no conservative either.

People need to DEMAND that Ted Cruz is eligible to run for the President’s office. He MUST allow the courts to decide if he is eligible or NOT. Either was have a Constitution and abide by it or we’ve become a third world country.

The Florida delegates have to vote for Trump 3 times before they can vote as they wish.
Cruz may need them to put him over the top.
