Should he have turned down their support? If so, how would he win a contested nomination fight in Cleveland? Wanting to win means accepting help from those you can get. Why does it mean he will compromise and govern against his conservative positions?

If he was a principled conservative he could have said "You know, Jeb Bush and his supporters...the Washington cartel....came up and wanted to be part of my campaign. I told them no. The cartel has controlled our government too long. This campaign is about conservatism. It's about the future of our country. It's about taking our country back from the entrenched Washington political class."

IF he had done that I can guarantee that every Trump supporter would be backing Cruz instead right now. But he didn't. He caved. He sold out for money and likely for a comfy future somewhere. He's Judas.

I still don’t understand why you are convinced he will govern like a moderate republican just because he accepted help from guys like Jeb Bush. Reagan took the support of the establishment that didn’t want him in either 1976 or 1980. He didn’t cave in to them. Why does Cruz have to abandon him convictions? IMO he doesn’t. Why can’t those guys still dislike Cruz, but decide he’s better than Trump? Why can’t the establishment types believe the polling data that Trump will lose in a landslide of epic proportions in November, taking down many house and senate candidates with him?

It is possible for both Cruz and the moderate republicans to have a common interest without Cruz needing to cut a secret deal. The logic I just stated makes perfect sense. You as a Trump supporter don’t believe he will lose in a landslide. But the polling data says he will. And if the establishment guys believe it, then backing Cruz is completely logical. I see zero evidence that Cruz will moderate his views. You assume he will, by who he gets support from. I prefer the simple analysis that Cruz and the establishment have a common interest in stopping Trump. No more, no less.
