Based on current delegate counts and poll numbers Ted Cruz will be mathematically unable to reach the delegate count required for him to win the Republican Presidential nomination. By the end April it will be clear that Ted Cruz has no chance of reaching the 1,237 delegates needed to win the nomination.
If Trumpy doesn't get 1,237 you COULD say that the people voted for someone besides Trumpy.
It’s simple.
A matter of the popular vote goes in the ash can and the GOPE-Cruz Cartel can wrangle an oligarchy of political assassins (”delegates”) picking the candidate at a convention stacked with delegates set to reverse the peoples vote. Go for it.
The general election is run according to the constitution....the republican primary is run by the republican party....if you don’t like it start your own party and run like you want to!!!
I don’t know... I guess they’ll all stay home or vote for Hillary.
They both need to drop out after April 26th. Trump should start calling them out on it everyday after the 26th like a drum beat.
Your best friend and I may very well have grown up in the same big city. Yes, I saw political corruption but it was on the side of the democrats because there never was a republican city government during that time. :)
Not sure what you are asking but we ended up with a northeast elitist who believes in big government running against a Marxist. Not an option I get very excited about.
Whig Party, anyone....
I think this nation needs a third party, and if the GOPE, elects anyone, except for the overwhelming frontrunner, goodbye, GOP. Or good riddance, I should say.
Rita... that’s the way political parties work. It’s a convention of delegates. Trumpy should have run as an independent to begin with if he wasn’t prepared to play the game to the end. And, they are not going to change the rules to accommodate him. He thinks he has the leverage to get that done, but he doesn’t. It is what it is.
Didn’t I say we WOULDN’T riot? Pay attention. I said we’d “walk away”.
In 1976 there were only two, but enough delegates were uncmmitted, or controlled by a state party boss like Mississippis Clarke Reed, to leave Reagan and Ford short of a majority when they reached Kansas City, though Ford was close.
And if he hadn't chosen a moderate for VP (Schweikert of PA.) he would have maintained the MS. delegation and won the the nomination. How different the country would be today without 4 years of Carter.
We will never know if Reagan could have won in 1976. The conditions for the Reps at the time were not good coming off of Watergate, Nixon, and a less than glorious exit from Vietnam. It would have been a third term in a row for the Reps, something always difficult to pull off. Reagan was far more electable in 1980 given the economic conditions and the ongoing Iranian humiliation. It was probably a blessing that Ford became the sacrificial lamb.
Kasich can’t meet the rule requiring a majority of delegates from 8 states, Cruz can, do try to keep up and stop whining.
Boy do you have his number. LOL! That oldest daughter never smiles and I always wonder why they are dragging those kids all over the campaign trail. Don’t they have school?
Simple 1237 is half the delegates plus one....if no one reaches that goal some delegates are released from their pledge and a second vote is held .. if no one gets 1237 more delegates are released and a third vote happens...etc. etc. etc. until some one gets 1237. That’s how it works and all the candidates signed a piece of paper saying they understood the rules and would abide by them.
On the first ballot!!!
Thanks for a thoughtful TRUE assessment of the situation (although I disagree with your statement about neither getting the nomination after the first ballot). Insults never carry the strength of truth but are much more easily spewed onto a forum page.
It seems like just not so long ago I was marveling at how many smart , insightful, funny and provocative people were on this forum and now it is filled with the opposite ilk.
Cruz and his flock of geese are so invested they would prefer to vote for a zombie programmed with ruuuules, if it would stop and silence the peoples vote.
You would rather lose with Cruz than win with Trump. If Trump has the most delegates, the most votes received, and the most states won, I will consider the nomination to have been stolen by Cruz or whoever the GOPe decides it wants. I will vote, just not for President.
If they don’t whine they can’t post!!You know the poor billionaire is unhappy!!!
What you consider is of no value to me....most of the polls show Cruz would beat Hillary and Trump doesn’t
