I went through this today with 2 different computers. Tried to get to Free Republic with the following error: “Server not found”.

How I fixed it..

Go to Start:

Run: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Open with notepad.

Go to the bottom of the page, and add ‘209.157.64.200 www.freerepublic.com’

(The last two lines should look like the below when done)
~~
::1 localhost

209.157.64.200 www.freerepublic.com
~~

Leave 2 or 3 spaces between the ip number and freerepublic.com ... In the post it kind of looks like I ran them together. ~ Hope this helps someone!! :)
