“if Cruz can’t beat Trump in the Primary, how can he beat Hillary in the General?”

Because the population of general election voters is very different from the population of primary voters in terms of voting preferences. For example, primaries in my state used to select Ron Paul every time. Primaries were never intended to be anything like national polls.

This is the exact reason Cruz will not win a general election. For starters his favorables/unfavorables are just as bad as Trump’s. But Cruz had zero crossover appeal. Cruz will not win Florida, North Carolina, or Virginia; these are all swing states now and trending blue, and without all three, he stands no chance at all; there is simply no mathematical way for him to win.

Ctuz’s bible thumping days will be over.
