Please don't be #NeverTrump.
Trump isn't perfect. But he's the only possible change from the status quo.
Amen! Sing it out again!
Who gets to vote and how many votes does it take to change a rule at the convention?
IT is over go look at Trump’s Facebook posts. All recent are promoting the RNC and his new logo.
Unfortunately, the cruzbots have not only been duped that their candidate can win by popular vote they also have been duped that their candidate can win in a contested convention...stealing the nomination from the rightful winner, Donald Trump.
Personally, I say let the chips fall where they may...I am voting Trump this November.
Fine, but it matters not. Trump’s goal is to get the most delegates, period, however many that is. And he’s hired the best vote counter in the business to run his state convention operaions where they can steal him blind, as in Louisiana. Fool Trump once, shame on you...try to fool him again and you’ll be up against the best.
I have a rule too...its for 48 years I have voted and I will vote in November for whomever I choose and if i choose to vote for Trump if you decide I am an idiot for choosing him none of your 47 rules can stop me now or then and there is not a damn thing you can do about it..so go sit in your uniparty circle and smoke whatever it is you smoke and stay out of voting booth...

No matter what Trump gets, they will find a way to stop him.
The Bernie folk are talking riots. I think this summer will be historic.
I hope I am wrong.
Hmm, a lot of things that have happened in this election have been called an embarrassment to our democracy or our country. This constant talk about not having rules for the convention before campaigning/primaries begin is the biggest embarrassment. We have an election, and nobody knows what the actual rules are or where the goalposts are. There is an RNC person from somewhere (SD or Montana I think), with the name Haughland (I think), who keeps saying that if the party does not decide then the convention is irrelevant. I would be okay with getting rid of those things.
Blah, Blah, Blah.
Just filler for the networks to fill time between the Primaries to keep interest.
Boring.
Next.
Go Trump
But if trump fell short of 1237 you would would be fine with changing the rule so trump wins the nomination, right? (I thought so)
Seems to me that could work the other way as well.
The Committee could say less than 1237 delegates is required for the first ballot nomination, an dpick a new number.
A lot can happen between now and July. In fact, the next meeting of the Rules Committee is in April.
I’ve voted Republican since 1980. If they give the nomination to anyone but the guy with the most delegates and votes I never will again. I won’t play in a rigged game.
If the RNC wants to play stupid, Trump can run as 3rd party and still win in November.
Thanks for the information.
I hope people are paying attention.
If they pull this sh1t, do they really believe conservatives are going to play their game once again? And vote for their uniparty candidate?
Seriously?
They are going to wish they lost by Romney’s numbers.
This article is pure bunk. The rule which says that 1,237 must be achieved can be altered, but 1,237 would still represent a passing vote.
Look at this way: Suppose the party decided that a plurality can nominate a candidate. Fine... because the rule which says 1,237 must be reached is not a permanent rule. Essentially, the party can bind delegates to vote to approve whoever achieves a plurality.
But let’s say that the party decides that it wants 1,300 delegates to be needed for a nomination. Can’t happen. A mere majority can’t bind a majority. When Trump gets 1,237 votes, his nomination passes, and the previous vote is over-ruled.
The sticky part is what happens if Trump gets a mere plurality? Then, in the second round, any delegate can vote for any qualified candidate. Under Rule 40B, only Trump and Cruz will likely qualify. Cruz can pick up all of the other non-Trump delegates and win if the delegates prefer him. Is that fair? *IF* Cruz blocks Trump from a majority, it’d be because he started winning majorities once the field cleared, and the argument could be made that demonstrated that he was the favored choice of the majority of voters.
But Rule 40B is also a temporary rule, could it change? Theoretically yes. Practically, no. Trump and Cruz supporters would know that if the rule is changed, it’d be to allow someone ELSE to be nominated. So they’d almost certainly block that from happening.
The only way it COULD happen would be if Trump decided to throw his support behind a Grand Compromise candidate. But I can’t imagine who that could be, or how the delegates could imagine that such a person could be “electable.”
My prediction, just bookmarking here: TPTB will have Rubio unsuspend his campaign as soon as the winner take all states are done and there’ll be 4 candidates at convention.
The master plan will be Rubio on 4th/5th ballot.
For the record, if I’m right, I don’t think this plan will work.
Did Bolling write this article?
The GOPe may think they will win if they screw Trump.
They may think they will win if Hillary is President.
However, the ballot down GOP candidates will be wiped out too.
The good, the bad and the ugly will all be tossed out.
There won’t be many GOPe’s left to cut deals with Hillary.
That is the GOP future.
