Let me ask all you “pure” conservatives something.
You like driving on interstate highways?
You want our military to have the finest equipment?
You want our police to be properly armed and trained?
If not for taxes, who’s going to pay for the above?
Yes, there is lots of waste in the government. But there are some things the private sector cannot, or should not, administer or run.
“But there are some things the private sector cannot, or should not, administer or run.”
All of which together account for a fraction of our taxes.
What’s your point?
I agree with you. We do need taxes for some things. The military is expressly justified and the other items you listed are easily justified using the elastic clause. I can’t stretch the elastic clause around continuing PP funding if they stop committing infanticide.
Yes we pay taxes and support defense, roads, proper limited government, etc.
We do not support the excess regulations, the micro managing of business by bureaucrats that have no experience, wasteful spending at all levels, the high 33% government overhead, the dictator like heavy handed rules and handing out lucrative contracts to relatives and friends (and donors), the excessive tax rates, government picking winners and losers in the energy industry, the government takeover of the health industry and western lands, etc, etc.
We do not support the handouts that the greedy demand.
We do not support out of control spending. We support competition among the states.
If not for taxes, whos going to pay for the above? Yes, there is lots of waste in the government. But there are some things the private sector cannot, or should not, administer or run.
Congratulations, your support for Donald Trump has turned you into a Democrat. Anything else you care to argue about from a left perspective?
