This and other changes coming appear to have more to do with problems at KGO and how to keep a senior on-air personality. Finding a slot for Owens was essential as sister station KGO continues to struggle. It seems to me. Their biggest asset is the late night rebroadcasts of John Batchelor. IMO.
What’s amusing is that his (Levin’s) ratings are still climbing across the board.
The guy has the third largest radio talk show in the country behind rush and Hannity.
This kind of nothing burger over KSFO reminds me of all the times that DU screams “This is HUGE...Rush is TOAST”...and he continues to increase his audience despite the predictions of his imminent demise.
If any advertising dollars are being lost...it’s at the local level...which has more to do with the local sales staff and the fact it’s in the Liberal hell hole of San Francisco. Loss of local advertising dollars has nothing to do with national advertising dollars.
If Mark was bleeding money for the Cumulus or West Wood One national sales staff...they wouldn’t have just re-upped him for another 9 years.
He’s one of the few money makers for that outfit these days.
Something to think about.
