I think in Iran they figure that if you're gay, getting a trans job will make you into a woman and then, voila, you're not gay. You're a woman attracted to men.

IOW, a surgical "cure" for homosexuality.

Not only subsidized, it's practically mandatory if you're gay and you want to keep your head on your shoulders.
