Yes, but Reagan was the anti-Trump in terms of endearment. He used good-natured humor against his critics, was always sunny, and stayed on message about the “shining city on the hill.” He would never have engaged in personal attacks on his opponent’s spouse. And he would NEVER have said health care and education were two primary purposes of the Federal government. He knew that the primary purposes were few and enumerated, and certainly did not include health care and education.

The entire culture has coarsened to such a degree that Reagan would not even recognize it.

He would be the first to admit that his 11th Commandment was passe. In 1980 no one in politics called the other one a liar, even if every one knew that it was true. It was more "genteel" and only the lefties, via their media hacks, got to bombard the right wingers.

I like the mud wrestling, at least Trump stands and fights and takes no prisoners.
