Hey. I got out of the Navy in 1970 too. Did we serve on different ships together? LOL!

Yeah, probably. I met my best friend, who also just gotten out of the navy, in Spanish class at Cleveland State, and he always said that we served on different ships together.

BTW, I served on USS Joseph K. Taussig (DE-1030), the USS Harlan R. Dickson, (DD-708), and the USS Warrington (DD-843), all home ported out of Newport, Rhode Island.

Remember when Nixon mined Hai Phong harbor in 1972? The Warrington was the only ship in anybody's navy to get taken out of action, when a anti-ship mine broke free from it's moorings and drifted out into the Gulf of Tonkin.

Of course, by that time was a civvie so I missed out on the fun...

Well, I started on the USS Lester DE-1022 out of Newport. Then went to the USS Hyman DD-732 out of New Orleans then to the USS ENGLISH DD-696 and USS Waldron DD-699 out of Mayport FL. I guess my CO’s didn’t like me or something since the kept transferring me. LOL!
