Sen. Ted Cruz refused to say Tuesday whether he would still back Donald Trump if the GOP presidential front-runner wins their party’s nomination, backing away from a firm pledge he made earlier in the campaign.
Mr. Cruz, whose coziness with Mr. Trump last year had pundits saying they were in the middle of a bromance, said that faded once the billionaire businessman began to turn nasty, and particularly in recent days when Mr. Trump has said he would go after Mr. Cruz’s wife.
“I’m not an easy person to tick off, but when you go after my wife, when you go after my daughters, that does it,” Mr. Cruz said at a town hall hosted by CNN in Wisconsin Tuesday night.
He accused Mr. Trump of being behind a thinly sourced story last week in the National Enquirer tabloid that reported Mr. Cruz had engaged in affairs with a handful of women. The story aggregated rumors, and the only named source was Roger Stone, an adviser to Mr. Trump, who said: “These stories have been swirling around Cruz for some time. I believe where there is smoke there is fire.”
Mr. Cruz also backed away from the pledge all of the candidates took last year to back the eventual nominee no matter who it is. Mr. Cruz ducked repeated direct challenges by CNN host Anderson Cooper to take a firm stand, saying instead that his goal now is to make sure he doesn’t face that choice.
“The answer to that is to beat him at the ballot box,” Mr. Cruz said.
Mr. Cooper, though, said Mr. Trump had made controversial statements about women and minorities last year, even as Mr. Cruz was praising him: “Sounds like you were engaged in a love fest,” Mr. Cooper said.

What’s funny is his daughters actually look happier with her than any picture I’ve seen them in with their father, Ted Cruz...seriously, I’m not even trying to be mean, but based off the pictures I’ve seen at least.
I’ve heard from numerous sources thay the Hillary team says Cruz can’t win the swing states or any north east states. The only candidate they are worried about is Trump. Seriously, we are conservatives on here, right? Or mostly anyways? Even if you dislike Trump, you have to see the pattern of the support base he has and the states he has won...I’ve 2 million more votes than Cruz. Doesn’t that tell you we should put aside our anger and rally behind him? No one can say he would be worse than Hillary...
There is exactly on principled Conservative in the race, and his last name is not Trump.

Trump has pissed off way more than he has tamed as far as I can see. This is based on my personal experience with people I know.

Experts as a child? An expert is a drip under pressure.
It starts with the individual who allows themselves to become emotionally invested in a candidate. The individual whose contribution to political dialogue is to say, "Boom" as if some glorious smack down occurred.
And maybe it did. But the point is the individual has become addicted to such emotional rhetoric believing it is a salve for their soul. Validation via sound bite.
But like with any addict the dosage required to get the same high increases with time so they are compelled to find their validation in more and more outrageous statements. And like an addict, denying that there is any sort of problem. Eventually turning their emotional instability on people who question the efficacy of the rhetoric.
