A public figure cannot sue on the basis of incorrect, harmful statements.

You are spreading false information. Look it up! Private citizens making libelous statements can most definitely be sued. Public officials and figures have a harder time proving defamation, but it has been successfully been done in the past. Lying about someone on a public forum such as Free Republic most definitely can open you up to some form of legal action in the future.

a libelous statement is a statement of fact that is untrue- the fella that stated a public figure can’t sue soemoen liek NE is correct- they are NOT stating their article as fact- even if it does harm- they are very careful NOT to state it as fact unlike those who state things as fact that are known to be false in the effort to harm an individual-
