I bet they knew how to do it all along. They were just looking for precedent in future cases against the exploding number of internet devices out there. Once public opinion turned against them, and they knew they would lose the case, they dropped it. A few days later they say they cracked one iPhone.

I bet they are currently shopping for a new case.

Justice Department deeply saddened that rule of law was kept in effect.

Just long as they didn’t wipe it clean, you know, like with a cloth.

Hubby told me that an Israeli tech firm cracked it.

They still want a backdoor.

Exactly. This was never about that particular iPhone.

Agreed. It's basic Lawyer Technique 101:
Never ask a question you don't know the answer to.

If such a fracture of the encryption could occur once, it could happen again, which puts Apple right back in the same box they were before.

Obstructionists extraordinary, but now with vulnerabilities. Scruples and principles be damned.

I thought the Israeli phone company offered to do it. Now the FBI was to claim they did it?

Their goal is not breaking in on an ad-hoc basis and shelling out $15,000 each time.

They want an ONGOING ARRANGEMENT. Automated.

THEY ARE SURVEILLANCE **JUNKIES**.

They got a little taste —something to wet their beaks— and got a TASTE for it. They LIKE the authoritarian stuff.

PINING TO GO FULL BIG-BROTHER.

ZACTLY like ALL our forefathers said A TRILLION TIMES.

“The price of liberty is eternal vigilance”.

Their ideal is to do it remotely on a live phone without notifying the suspect.
