I blame getting rid of real cartoons like Road Runner, Tom & Jerry, Looney Tunes, Munsters, and Gilligan. These kids got stuck with 2D crappy cartoons where boogers, farting, and belching replaced humor.

No way would the PC left ever allow Warner Bros. to make Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck cartoons today. Same for the Three Stooges.
Too “violent.”

I loved those cartoons and enjoyed watching them with my kids when they ware smaller.
I feel sorry for the kids for the crap that is forced on to them.

Most modern cartoons apparently can’t make it to air without at least one instance of toilet humor.
The early 90s were probably the end for most decent cartoons with a few exceptions.

Agreed. What we watched on Saturday mornings or certainly on “The Electric Company” back in the 1970s was more fun and entertaining than the garbage that’s featured on SNL or whatever else these days is considered comedy.

That’s because the cartoons in the 40s were for adults and shown in the theater.
