I have had the distasteful experience of being personally acquainted with Roger Stone. He is the ultimate cynic, using any cause and any person to further his own wayward lifestyle. His tactics which seemed perversely cute when applied to Ed Muskie or George McGovern when Stone was a relative beardless youth are now employed by The Donald as great fun at the expense of the CONSERVATIVE movement and its naive tendency to care about such obsolete things as actual principles, morality, decency, manners, gentlemanly demeanor and actual issues. Now that Stone's way of life and the passage of time has converted him from the young prospective campaign management star to the now aged has been, he had one more chance to be relevant courtesy of The Donald and one more chance at a financial golden ring which is chump change to The Donald.
We are here embroiled in yet another 135 post (and counting) slimefest utterly devoid of meaningful issues. Stone is teaching us (on behalf of The Donald) that non-stop character assassination is great fun (for many) and a lot more rewarding than actually working for a better society. We are now living in Roger Stone's world, his natural habitat, his preferred environment: All slime all the time. This is what Roger does. This is who Roger is.
As you, my friend, are well aware, Western Civilization survived the worst of the so-called Dark Ages when monks in obscure abbeys and monasteries lovingly and faithfully copied Bibles and other works of the classical civilization that had collapsed before the onslaught of several centuries of barbarians. They labored oftentimes far from centers of population and far from the centers of power because they knew how important it was to preserve the work of Aristotle and Greek playwrights and Cicero and Virgil and Augustine and Ignatius of Antioch and so many others while barbarians burned the great library of Alexandria and repeatedly sacked Rome itself. It looks like we and our children may have to go back underground to preserve what is left.
I take second place to no one here in despising "The Establishment." That includes the Republican National Committee, Moral Monster Mitt Romney, John McCain, Robert Dole, Bush the Elder, Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, Paul Ryan, K Street, Wall Street and the United States Chamber of Crony Commerce and their respective ilks. You and I and other conservatives are expected to trust: trust, mind you, the New York City real estate mogul whose stock in trade is payoffs to DeBlasio, Emmanuel, the Clintons, Schmucky Chewmer and so many other corrupt politicos to lead us to the Promised Land where the lion will lie down with the lamb and "The Establishment" will finally be vanquished for the benefit of the "little guy." That would be the New York City real estte mogul who has spent his entire life promoting and funding leftist politicians and causes but has lately "come to Jesus" after analyzing the GOP primary electorate. All too any of us have been hijacked by Dr. Feelgood and his miracle elixir that will solve every ill, at least according to him.
Finally, Roger Stone does nothing in the way of serving the public good. It is time that some enterprising journalist engaged in some actual investigative journalism, followed the money trail, discovered how much Stone is being paid by Trump or on Trump's behalf. The last time Stone actually volunteered without a fat check was when he was in high school. If he is being paid, that must be reported or he and anyone paying for his services to Trump need to be subject to criminal investigation.
