I have a question.....a serious one and please none of thse attacks.. WHO is behind this story from Politico?? What TRUTH is there in this article? Does anyone know from the CRUZ camp if this is a FACT?

This is a election cycle and garbage is being printed and many of us are being gullable enough to swallow some of it.

I just want to know for a FACT that CRUZ is trying to " steal" delagates promised to Trump...

Cruz has said that he would NOT support a Brokered Convention.

I was approached by three political campaigns to run as a bound delegate in Maryland this year (long story, but a lot of candidates know and trust me). That's how it's done in some states. In other states, the party selects delegates either before or after the primary election, to represent the interests of the state party, and all active campaigns get as involved as state rules permit in stacking those delegations.

It's not sleaze, but it's not classy either. It's supposed to be to make sure the delegation watches over local interests in the party platform (Ethanol is one such example, and Abortion is another), but it works out in the rare contested convention to be a major factor after the first ballot. I was approached months ago, but I would be startled if Cruz, Kasich, Jeb, Christie (he wants influence!), and yes Trump - that's The Art of the Deal in politics - were not doing this in SC, in LA, and everywhere else, plus lobbying bound delegates to either keep their loyalty or shift their votes after that first ballot.

Thank you for your reply. Respectfully, I can not tell you any more than what we both read in Politico. I do understand it does have a Left Wing bias, but I have read other stories that I found objective. There is a South Carolina FR site called: South Carolina Ping, on this page in response to my post. it was referred to me by:upchuck who says he is in the SC network and follows political activity there on this Ping. you might try that out to get a better grasp of the situation.

I can tell you this first hand: Before retiring from activity I worked over 30 years; as a conservative in political and social action within my own Washington State Republican District, County,State and National Convention level, as delegate and network organizer. So I can Tell you with certainty that this sort of delegate “rustling” goes on all the time. I have never seen a convention without it.

This is why having an experienced trusted network of like minded workers in place long before the convention starts is so important. You choose the strongest, most willing and dedicated persons to be elected or selected as delegates. They must register to do that Some States allow late registration, because(yes) there are usually many seats still open. Even so, after the first ballot in which they are bound, it is a free for all and the team that has lined up the most delegates to file late and/or switch sides often wins. Politics is another name for warfare without violence. Fortunately, it is the only alternative to shooting it out in the streets. Thank God, so far ,with the exception od the Civil War, it has worked.

Oh it is happening alright in any state won by the other candidate. If Trump is not trying to get Cruz delegates to vote for him in the 2nd ballot then he does not deserve to win.

Candidates must also make sure that candidates bound to them stay with them in the 2nd and subsequent rounds.

This type of "ground game" is usually not necessary because one candidates gets enough delegates early.
