Yes, assuming none of this is true the Trump followers who pushed these allegations have just alienated a heck of lot of people. I guess it's just a Trump thing. Both he and his mob alienate just about everyone else. No way Trump has any path to the White House. He and his supporters simply piss off too many people for him to ever win a general election.
This character assassination will not be forgotten, as has the same kind of drip drip drip of lies about Herman Cain when he got to close for power, too.
Here is where I disagree with you. Herman was guilty of having affairs. No one drops out of a Presidential race due to fake affair allegations - especially when they are doing well (which Cain was at the time). Herman got busted and didn't want all the sordid details to come out.
Now IF it turns out these allegations against Cruz were true, he is finished in this race. As of now there is no proof of any of it and Cruz has categorically denied everything. But IF Cruz is lying, he needs to leave the race immediately.
