Hollywood stars are public figures. They sue and win. Trump wants libel laws changed. Cruz could team with Trump and go after them. Wait. No. Never mind.

Trump, using the words “spill the beans” before the story came out means that he knew something.

I really do not understand why a sex scandal would torpedo someones campaign. The way the world is today I would think it would have the opposite effect.

Maybe Trump means spilling the beans regarding one of a few other things coming?

Which means he knows of more stuff coming?
I can't imagine Roger Stone and that Pecker guy not asking The Donald exactly when he wants them to proceed.
Trump deals are like getting your foot stuck in a bucket of tar.

Why not DEMAND an apology and an immediate retraction from the paper? That would be the actions of an innocent man.
There have been plenty of honorable people (E.g., Clarence Thomas) that have been accused of sex scandals. Cruz does not have the experience necessary to deal with an accusation of the magnitude in question.

Pecker runs a business and would IMO not get sued or investigated for the likes of Trump.

Pecker has already endorsed Trump for president. He and Trump are best buds.
If Pecker did not want to run a foul of the Donald then he certainly would give him a heads up.
It is in Trump's best interest to have the nation's leading gossip mag under his control.

IIRC, the "spill the beans" was in reference to Cruz's wife, not Cruz. I am inclined to believe that he was going to run a story on her connection to Wall Street.

Roger Stone is the only named source in the story. How can he deny being a source. Or is he saying the NE lied about his input.

They really didn’t stick their neck out. They peppered the story with allegedly supposed too, rumors are etc. They reported there are rumors, they had no first hand sources.

How can you know what The Donald means at any point?
I have never felt so crappy as I have getting to know more about him.
Donald Trump is like getting your foot stuck in a bucket of tar.
You try removing your foot and it is sticky and nasty.
