If Cruz believes the story is without merit, he should sue National Enquirer for defamation.
An adulterer’s denials mean nothing. It would go against interest for Cruz to tell the truth, for the truth would sink his presidential bid.
That is if Cruz is willing to take legal action to defend his reputation.
Suing a media company for defamation is difficult, lengthy and costly. Hillary will be in her second term in office by the time Cruz is awarded damages for this Trump attack.
“If Cruz believes the story is without merit, he should sue National Enquirer for defamation.”
Cruz should at least demand the story be pulled. Demand a retraction and an apology from N.E.
Why doesn’t he?
Doesn’t matter if it’s without merit or not. Remember those defamation laws Trump was talking about, how they need to be changed? Well, it’s Cruz’s turn in that barrel now because unless he can prove the NE knew the stories were false and published them knowing this, they are free and clear. This is what “absence of malice” means, and if you think it’s unfair, there’s plenty of room on the Trump train. In the meantime, you’re stuck with the law as it is.
I’m sure Cruz’s master bushes have told him to not mention suing the magazine. Nothing forces the magazine to bring out the proof more than being threatened to be sued.
Where are the women to corroborate this story?
Reminds me a lot of what was said about Bush 41, Clarence Thomas, John McCain, and Herman Cain. Odd playbook to be going to...
