Ted Cruz holds a modest lead over Donald Trump in Wisconsin two weeks before that state’s winner-take-all Republican primary, according to a new Washington Free Beacon poll.
The Basswood Research survey of 500 likely Republican primary voters, conducted on March 19 and 20, shows the Texas senator leading Trump by 4.8 points, 36.2 to 31.4. Ohio Gov. John Kasich trails with 20.8.
Cruz’s lead expands dramatically in a head-to-head contest with Trump. If Kasich were to drop out before the primary, 47.8 percent of respondents say they would back Cruz, compared to just 36.2 percent for Trump.
Wisconsin is expected to be a crucial contest in the race for the Republican nomination, as Trump looks to expand his lead, Cruz clings to diminishing prospects to unseat him as the frontrunner, and Kasich seeks to consolidate enough support to keep his bid relevant ahead of a potential contested Republican convention.

Its a very smart move for Trump as you can search for posts of claiming Trump is connected to National enquirer implying hes behind this. The way it was done by Katrina allows Trump and her to stay above the storm but still nail him later if needed.
WI conservatives are accustomed to treacherous gutter politics from the left and will sympathize with Cruz over this smear attack.

Don’t forget the delegates Cruz will get out of the complicated Colorado and back half of the even more complicated Wyoming caucus.
No reporting on this subject, not necessarily nefarious, it’s just that both systems are so convoluted, it’s really hard to sort these processes out. The “delegates to select delegates” are Cruz-rich in both states. Trump may get a few of the 53 available in this pot, pot, but Cruz will dominate.
Colorado will be resolved in 8 Assemblies April 8-9. Wyoming a week later.
Wyoming was reported on. It’s just such an arcane system that really takes away the will of the voters.
I believe there’s no requirement for the delegates in WY or CO to be bound on the first ballot to the candidate of their choosing, which is why both states had no preference poll in their level 1 events. So they’ll be counted more as soft delegates than anything else.
Cruz won 9 of the 12 delegates in WY so far with more in play later in the week. Colorado, should also favor Cruz, as the Mountain West seems to be his stronghold.
