He campaigns arm and arm with Glenn Beck who way back in September accused Trump’s wife of engaging in “lesbian porn.” Liz Mair who ran the ad featuring Trump’s wife, is close friends with Rick Perry and Carly Fiorina, both of whom are very close to the Cruz campaign.
Cruz has created an environment around his campaign that certainly seems to approve of this line of attack. You can also add to this Cruz blaming Trump for the Chicago riot, and implying that Trump may be responsible for the Brussels attack because of his stance on NATO.

Trump is the one who keeps using violent sounding language at his rallies,. Cruz isn’t talking about “punching them in the face” like Trump does.
Trump’s bully language invokes a response from bully types. Go to any bar and start talking trash. Who will it draw in? Human nature. Trump knows this as a salesman.
