Seven hackers tied to the Iranian government were charged Thursday in a series of punishing cyberattacks on a small dam outside New York City and on dozens of banks -- intrusions that reached into American infrastructure and disrupted the financial system, federal law enforcement officials said. The hackers were charged in indictments unsealed and announced at a Justice Department news conference in Washington. All seven worked for Iranian computer companies that did work on behalf of the Iranian government, the U.S. said. This is our Just Us Department pi$$ing into the wind again. The indictees are in Iran! Good luck with any extadition efforts. Talk about Kabuki Theater!
Yeah, that will teach those Iranians...
Well then, just dispatch some Federal Marshalls to Teheran and arrest them then. /SARC sarcsarcsarcsarc
Didn’t Iran get a whole bunch of “get out of jail” vouchers from Kerry as part of his tough negotiations, so nothing will come of this anyways
Iranian hackers attacking a dam still did less damage than our own EPA when it decided to open up that flooded mineshaft...
So who are the primary threat, exactly?
This is something that simply shouldn’t be possible.
At the firewall, they could whitelist all the IPs that need access to the DAM controls and blacklist everything else. This would make hacking these systems exceptionally more difficult.
If a system is truly mission critical and lives are at risk, those systems need to be air-gapped.

But the EPA SAID ‘sorry’. What *else* do you WANT? /s
If govt cannot tighten-down the access/control of a DAM; what the hell can they do about our data (ala O’Care, IRS, etc.)??
Pssh, they’re actively working to make all our data less secure by lobbying for backdoors into anything that is secure right now.
Next I suspect to see is govt coming after the USERS of 3rd party security....Big Bro MUST have access to all, not the OTHER way around
