No matter how incompetent or misfeasant Saldana may seem, she and ICE did not have jurisdiction to order a ‘hold’ on the illegal arrested for the crime: he violated state law, and the county court has jurisdiction to prosecute.
A warrant shall issue for the illegal; and, if found crossing south at the U.S. border, will be returned the the court in the state with jurisdiction, and the aggrieved will have their trial....after which ICE may become involved to provide service, at the state’s request, for execution of sentence, if necessary.
I do not defend Saldana. But the article is throwing stoneage at the wrong agency.
