Tell that to John Kasich and the rest of the GOP amnesty crowd, including Cruz.
Most of the resistance to amnesty is in the GOP. Maybe that is the reason Donald Trump is running for the Republican nomination.
Remember, it was the GOP that defunded the wall in 2008.
Just as good as Dems to me.
They should sue the state for violation of thier 2nd Amendment rights. MA has the most restrictive gun laws on the books.
If the state believes it can safeguard its citizens and remove thier right of self defense, then it should punished when it fails to do so.
castrate them before you deport them this time
“Remember, it was the GOP that defunded the wall in 2008.”
I have to admit that I did not know that. It would be interesting to see the roll call. Again, it could be a few Republicans joining many Democrats. Also, context is often crucial. Don’t be surprised if Trump later says there is a cheaper way to control immigration than building a wall.
A Democrat friend of mine likes to tell me that Reagan allowed amnesty. True, to a point. He was going along with Ted Kennedy’s initiative. Context. Was this part of the price of getting funding from a Democratic Congress on Defense spending (defeating the Soviet Union). Also, a “one time” amnesty is making less and less sense every time it is advanced. Kasich says he is for it. Cruz says he is against it.
Usually the roll call vote shows the difference between parties. Also, there are many legislative initiatives. How do they all stack up? I’m not saying one event is cherry picking, just that it could be (intentionally or not).
IT was Kay Bailey Hutchison who slipped it into a bill. Surprise?
A GOP Senator.
From Texas, no less.
It was approved in 2007, then she torpedoed it quietly in 2008. And the GOP never did anything about it.
I agree the Dems are bad on the issue and caused it initially and the GOP fell for it in 1986.
But now, the GOP answers to the Cheap Labor Express rather then its constituents, and we are seeing this played out in real time with the party opposition to Trump.
Funny how the press declares them illegal when they commit certain crimes. Instead of when they cross the border, illegally. Looks at the crap we just let stroll in.
“But now, the GOP answers to the Cheap Labor Express rather then its constituents, and we are seeing this played out in real time with the party opposition to Trump.”
That is one reason, but not the only reason. Putting it somewhat differently, some people oppose Trump for that reason, some people oppose Trump for other reasons.
Clearly the victims, who were obviously Trump supporters and should never have been there were asking for it. Therefore no crime, right?
Well, right?
Okay, how about this: Delay the trial until these poor dreamers have voted in November.
Obama calls ISIS the same thing.
” , , , Cape Cod which is more conservative than the rest of the state . . .”
I hope you’re right.
The Cape Cod Times became unreadable for me, as a liberal megaphone.
But they used to have a great chat forum on their website, which sadly got removed several years ago when conservatives were scoring all the points.
Plymouth county too is more conservative too than the rest of the state.
Time to play for keeps. why would good men allow this?
Because the full wrath of the legal system would fall on their heads if they fought back or God forbid, defended a loved one with a weapon.
