According to the FBI's Preliminary Semiannual Uniform Crime Report for the first six months of 2015, the number of violent crimes in Anchorage (the only city reporting for Alaska) increased 34% compared to the same period in 2014. Murders were up 167%, and aggravated assaults increased 32% versus the first six months of 2014.

Ever try growing tomatoes in Alaska? I have a greenhouse for the summer but it is way to expensive to try it in the winter. I love tomatoes, one of the things I miss about living in the south is growing my own garden all year long.

A few drilling programs were shut down, for starters. That leaves a lot of ripples on the pond when that rock goes in.

(Happy watermelon Communist article about it written by a woman in New Hampshire). Grrrr.

The Trans Alaska Pipeline project started in 1974 and finished in 1977. More than enough prosperity to go around in those days.

I can’t understand why people would buy pot when they can grow it legally.

Why do people buy tomatoes when they can grow them legally?

Is it easier to grow pot in Alaska?

Growing pot here is usually done under grow lights. In the winter we only have about 5-6 hours of poor daylight at best. One way you can tell a grow operation is the huge electricity bill compared to the size of the house or apartment or trailer. I could grow my tomatoes that way but it would be they would cost about $20 each.

Sounds to me like you've answered the question of "why people would buy pot when they can grow it legally."
