“I and real conservatives believe in constitutional conservativism, not populism.”
My my. That almost sounds like it means something.
So do you regard Andrew Jackson’s Presidency as a low point? He was a populist despised by the elites.
Are you glad that Republicans William McKinley and Teddy Roosevelt ushered in the Progressive era over the populist William Jennings Bryan?
Enquiring minds want to know.
What you are talking about is irrelevant. We don’t have a progressive or an elitist running against Trump. We have a constitutional conservative (Cruz) running against a non-ideologue, anti-establishment populist (Trump). I choose not to vote for someone who has not proven himself to be conservative and who in fact has proven himself financially supportive of liberals. I’m not going to put my reliance on a candidate who has shown himself to be so inconsistent and unprincipled it would be like putting my money on black on the roulette wheel. Being against the establishment is not enough. Only candidates that are reliable on conservative issues get my vote. Relying on Trump is no better than Romney on testosterone. If you wouldn’t vote for Romney for being a RINO, you shouldn’t vote for Trump, because that’s exactly what he is.
