Why Ted Cruz Should Reach Out To Mitch McConnell
Daily Caller ^ | 3/17/16 | Matt K Lewis

Even for high achievers (especially for high achievers?) ego can be a career-limiting liability.

Let’s take the case of Ted Cruz, for example. As the Weekly Standard notes, “Ted Cruz said that he won’t humble himself before Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to smooth over the rough relationship he has developed with colleagues.” (Specifically, he said he won’t go “on bended knee, with my hat in hand” to McConnell.)

I can understand the Cruz’s desire to preserve his outsider status, and we all have fallen victim to the temptation to gloat over our successes. But I still suspect this is a mistake. With Marco Rubio now out of the race, Cruz has an opportunity to get mainstream conservatives and establishment Republicans to coalesce around his candidacy. (It’s important to note that their reservations have much less to do with his philosophy than they do with his personality and tactics.)

Now, I know he has said he would welcome Rubio supporters “with open arms,” but this sounded a tad perfunctory. Cruz has a real opportunity to close ranks behind him, but any signals he sends about holding grudges can only undermine his chances.

“McConnell (and others) should apologize to Cruz for lying about TPP/TPA”

They did not lie to Cruz, Cruz lied to us.

This is Kibuki theater or professional wrestling for the masses. Ted is for Gang of 8, explosion of H1B and other work visas, TPP, NAFTA, North American Union, TPA, and he brings along Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and Silicon Valley. What is there for McConnell not to like. Folks, this is a sham to fool us. Cruz is the GLOBALIST/ESTABLISHMENT stealth candidate, not even remotely American (Cuban, born in Canada, brought here as a child illegally; very similar circumstances to Obama. And Rubio, who the establishment also loves, isn’t American, was a Cuban anchor baby and anchor babies are unconstitutional. ..We are being assaulted by Manchurian Candidates who aren’t Americans.)

They will use Cruz to put Mitt or Ryan in. The Senate hates Cruz and its personal. They hate Trump because its just bad for thievery business. The Donor class know Trump wants nothing of their crooked deals that have left the middle class unemployed, allowed an invasion of aliens and failed GOPe promises

I think it’s cute you people think a person that has fed off the corruption train his entire life will now try and police the corruption

Why should Cruz apologize meekly for doing what is right?

Because he is a political opportunist who craves power so much he is willing to do anything to achieve it? My money is on Cruz apologizing and kissing McConnell's rear end.

Of course, but Trump’s good a figuring out how to get something done. There’s more than one way to skin a cat. There are often many ways.

RE: My money is on Cruz apologizing and kissing McConnell’s rear end.

Let’s have a bet and revisit this thread later. My money is on his staying pat to his principles.

My reason is a simple one — HIS RECORD.

I'd take that bet.

“You Trumpzombies bore me.”

Does Cruz’s expressed appreciation for Romney’s endorsement bore you also?

Yes, it bores me too.

The two candidates leading this primary have both done everything virtually by themselves, largely with the establishment actively working against them. Trump would accept Mittens endorsement too. Wake up.

I look at this a little different. Cruz was splitting 60% of the vote with at least 3 other candidates. 60% is a lot of votes.

I disagree. Now that Cruz has thanked Mitt Romney for his endorsement, I expect Canadian lips to meet turtle butt soon and all will be well in GOPe land.

Now let me see. McConnell lied to Ted Cruz and all the other Rep Senators. Ted calls him out. Ted should appologize to McConnell. Yeah I get it.Duh me.

LOL, I suppose you can look at Cruz winning when he hasn’t done much at all...seems like a waste of time and energy to me though. Trump just keeps winning and gaining support. But, it you want to think winning is losing and losing is winning...it is a free country! :)

All the other Senators knew Mitch was lying. Ted’s staff told him that Mitch was lying. Ted says he believed Mitch. He was shocked, shocked that Mitch had lied, so he said so on the floor of the Senate. Now Ted has no friends, except Mike Lee, Carly Forina, Glen Beck, and now Lindsey Graham and Mitt Ronmey. Good luck with that!

Cruz should get on his knees and beg for mercy from McConnell if he wants GOPe’s support. Cruz is power hungry enough to do it.

He'll get their support regardless...It's all for show...

Cruz's bankrollers are the GOPe, now and right from the beginning...

Have you ever thought about not spreading false information in your posts? Or is it just something you have to do anytime you seem the tiniest bit of threat to Trump?

Ted is for Gang of 8, explosion of H1B and other work visas, TPP, NAFTA, North American Union, TPA, and he brings along Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and Silicon Valley.

Cruz is the main reason the Gang of 8 bill was stopped. He had his chance to help get it passed, and he did the exact opposite. He has changed his position on H1-Bs, and has said why. TPA isn't a bad thing, it's been used to make trade dealing much easier for decades. He doesn't support TPP. NAFTA/NAU, how would he be supporting those when he also wants to get the wall built, and get rid of illegal aliens? Isn't that kinda completely the opposite of what NAU means?

Cruz is the GLOBALIST/ESTABLISHMENT stealth candidate, not even remotely American (Cuban, born in Canada, brought here as a child illegally; very similar circumstances to Obama...

He has American citizenship through his mother. Quite the opposite of illegal. Not sure why I'm even trying to argue you, when you obviously don't care enough to look at facts. Why don't you go troll somewhere else, like DU or HuffPost?
