There really ARE innocent commercial uses a car with WIFI and reporting capabilities that could be used very effectively. For instance, I’d like my wife’s explorer to be able to hook up with my home wifi and tell me the mileage, etc and if it’s time for an erl change. She can’t tell mileage from shit and don’t care. It’s frustrating.

On any car after a '96 you can plug in a $25 device, get some $20 software to match the car make and year, and get all that info over wifi or bluetooth. I use an ipod touch but it is available cor android and I am sure laptops as well.

One of my wife’s nephews has the old mechanical skills and was a major Japanese auto importer tech weenie until last year. So he is both old and new cutting edge school.

He opened up his own shop and does the electronic check and then the maintenance needed to bring the so called pre owned to qualify for the extended warranties on used vehicles.

He has advised us to buy one of these for each vehicle with the software to know what is wrong or okay with a vehicle.
