With Donald Trump marching toward a nomination that few believed he could win, Republicans once bent on defeating him are now reassessing their efforts to stop him.
Trumps dazed and demoralized adversaries find themselves at a defining moment: After unloading millions of dollars in attack ads aimed at destroying the real estate mogul, after the partys 2012 nominee delivered a no-holds barred speech targeting him, and after conservatives far and wide spoke out in unrelenting terms about how he could never be president, hes more dominant than ever with another rival vanquished, a massive delegate lead and his two remaining opponents looking increasingly like the next to go.
While some Republicans insist on standing firm against the businessman, more and more are contending that its time to reach a point of acceptance and that a drawn-out primary or convention battle could be worse.
*snip*
Others, however, appeared more resigned. At a posh resort in Palm Beach, Fla. just minutes from Trumps Mar-a-Lago estate many of the Republican Partys biggest donors discussed whether to continue shelling out millions on an anti-Trump offensive that so far has done little, if anything, to halt his rise. Many of those gathered, including New York hedge-fund manager Paul Singer and members of the Chicago Cubs-owning Ricketts family, have been the primary funders of Our Principles, a super PAC that spent heavily to defeat Trump, plastering Florida and other states with TV ads that portrayed him as a heartless businessman. Several of the donors reiterated their hope that Cruz or Kasich could still somehow win, sources familiar with the gathering told POLITICO. But others indicated they would be open to supporting Trump in the general election.

If they have any brains, they will cut their losses and get on the Trump bandwagon.
There will be a cadre of dead-enders who will NOT give up. Mark my words.
Que music from ‘Apocalypse Now’
This is the end....

More proof that the rich donors of the GOPe want Cruz are funding Cruz, that Cruz is a fake and owned and lying to us.
“after the partys 2012 nominee delivered a no-holds barred speech targeting him”
And had absolutely NO effect by the way.
I feel like Dr. Zivago, sans the blonde girlfriend.
Even they will be defeated.
They’ll now join forces with the left wing groups.
It is an old saying, but if you can’t beat them, join them.
Wise words for the GOPe at this time.
If ya can't beat 'em, join 'em.
You beat me by 1 minute.

“Theyll now join forces with the left wing groups.”
Many of them have always been joined with the Left in their goals.
I believe that in the next month or two this “anti-Trump” coalition will suddenly vanish as one Republican operative after another realizes that it’s in their best interest to get on Trump’s good side and try to secure a spot in his administration.
Within a month or two the real battle will be the former anti-Trump GOPe hacks fighting each other for a place at Trump’s table.
It is IMPOSSIBLE for Cruz to get enough delegates to win the nomination.
If it comes to a brokered convention, the GOP establishment will select another candidate and it won’t be Cruz.
Cruz is toast. Somebody tell him.
It’s time for him to BEG Trump to get on the ticket, or work behind closed doors for a slot in the Trump administration, and quit the race.
Moreover, if it becomes a brokered convention, Hillary wins.
Thanks Ted Cruz.
ALL ABOARD!
They deride Trump for his language. They do not realize that those are the words used by the common masses, even those who are not for Trump.
I saw one of the pundits on Fox (maybe CNN) who was blasting Trump for saying to "knock the crap" out of protestors. How could he use such bad words? The truth is he wanted to say (but couldn't on tv) to knock the s***t out of the protestors. I know many common folk (dims, repugs, and independents) and that is what they would say. Look at the programs on tv anymore.
The same goes with his reference to illegals, national debt, Obamacrisiscare, etc., etc., etc.
GO TRUMP!!!
They are still intent on the “contested convention” and some are now even discussing a 3rd party, which is about the only viable path for shillary to get to the WH.
Our progressive friends talk a lot about “teaching moments”. This is a prime example of one. This is the perfect time for them to take a long hard look in the mirror and honestly contemplate just how badly they have screwed up their job of representing the american people. How badly do you have to f-—k up governance to make a candidate like Trump possible? But no, they are not doing that at all... This tells you everything you need to know about the GOP post-2014 and what they really think of the people they are supposedly representing.
I will give Rubio credit for one thing — in his “I quit” speech, he at least alluded to the GOP not doing their jobs.
They are beginning to transit to the acceptance stage.
Oh well, should have secured that border you pansies.
