Who said he was fleeing? The story says there was a confrontation in the yard.

I remember too well the news reports that Trayvon Martin was shot in the back...complete with animation. Of course that was nonsense...so I would be very careful about making similar assumptions in this case.

The police have more information than anybody right now, and they have chosen not to charge the homeowner...there is probably a logical reason for that.

Yep, shouldn't be too hard to determine entry/exit wound, but expect the media to try to spin it their way.....

I guess they didn’t have a baby picture of this guy, huh? Baby pictures are the way to go.

“I don’t know about Florida, but I know that in New York you are not allowed to shoot, if they are fleeing. You are only allowed to shoot if they pose a threat to you or someone under your care.”

****************

In TX if you see someone vandalizing your mailbox you can legally shoot them. Should you? Depends on how nice your mailbox is.

Yes. Texas has the most serious commitment to property rights in the United States.

According to the story he turned and confronted the woman. THATS when she shot him.

I must have missed that, I saw the part about she saw him crawling out the window.

If the homeowner was in the yard and the thug was fleeing the home, the thug was moving toward the homeowner. Depending on your stat that makes the thug a possible threat, and the shooting legal if the homeowner did not initiate the confrontation and had a reasonable fear for her safety.

The articles that I have read say that she saw him crawling out of a window.

They also report the police as saying that she shot him during a confrontation.

Details of the confrontation have not been released, and that is reasonable, given that this is now a homicide investigation.

Seriously... How stupid are these people?

Many of them are very stupid, as in significantly below average IQ. Worse, they exist in a culture which actively scorns education and earning, but lionizes criminality. They truly are the children of the mis-named 'civil rights movement', whose message was "Gimme or we'll riot!!!"

Wonder about that watch, the silver necklaces and how much they cost as well. Guess it’s important to have jewelry to accessorize your school wardrobe in da hood.

“Seriously stupid - and without a speck of morality to boot.”

And, this is unexpected, somehow?

What makes these people *dangerous* is their ability to VOTE, let alone breed. They will get the ‘privilege’ to pull the lever, sometimes multiple pulls, to have govt STEAL from others to give to them (don’t even *start* re: jury duty). So is anyone surprised that they have no moral qualms about the theft to begin??

Amazing! Approving burglary to afford “clothes for school”. Please. Would the relatives of the ventilated criminal be so kind to someone breaking and entering their home?

If I was a betting man, all my money would be on “no way”.

One dude I knew back at ODU years ago told me that the smart ones leave the hood and never go back as well as cutting themselves off from folks they knew from there too.

BS. She did not KNOW that “Trayvon” did not have one or two
accomplices standing right behind him at the ready to
attack her.

Keep out of your neighbor’s home.

“He broke into some one else’s hoe to steal. As such, he was a mortal threat to the people in the home.

They had every right to recognize an intruder as such.”

If I recall correctly, when I first moved to North Carolina in 1970, “first degree burglary” (that is breaking and entering when there are people in the house) was still a capital crime here.

Think about that one for a minute.
