How and Why the Conservative Media Sold Its Soul To Facilitate Trump’s Nomination (sorta barfy)
Mediaite ^ | 3/15/2016 | John Ziegler

Posted on 03/16/2016 11:07:12 AM PDT by 20yearsofinternet

I have written many times on this outlet about the dangers of Donald Trump’s candidacy. Last year, I predicted how the conservative media was going to allow him to at least negatively alter the process, if not win the GOP nomination. Now that he has effectively clinched that nomination (or at least created a situation where it would require an unprecedented act to stop him), someone needs to explain, from a media perspective, how and why this happened. Since no other conservative has both the guts and the knowledge to do so, I guess that person will be me.

To fully understand how and why the “conservative” (I use that term loosely) media willingly enabled this hostile takeover of the Republican Party, you primarily need to comprehend what a fraud the entire industry is. In short, the vast majority of “conservative” media is simply just a business cynically disguised as a cause.

The reason this is the case is actually quite simple. Because the vast majority of “newsish” media outlets are overtly liberal, the business model and employment opportunities (or lack thereof) on the right are vastly different from the rest of the media.

Starts off making a couple of somewhat valid points about preferential coverage, but then goes totally off the rails into "Barf Alert" territory, particularly with the tired claims that Trump supporters "ignore facts" (i.e. low info), when for example the Corker Bill and support for legal permanent residency for invaders doesn't seem to have any effect on Cruz supporters. He also praises the business model of TheBlaze.com, which has bled millions, and finishes up with the oft-cited MSM polling nonsense that somehow Trump has the worst chances of the remaining candidates to beat Hillary.

Despite all that, still a somewhat interesting read, even with all the sour grapes.

This is the stupidest article of many stupid articles. The “Conservative Media” does not control the process. It does not “make” or “destroy” candidate any more then the “Leftist” media does.

What “made” Trump was the uniformly hostile nature of the media. In a year when the vast bulk of voters loath the Political Establishment, this daily barrage of trash talk about Trump from the Establishment media has made people look closer at him.

Trump started out with a 67% “never vote for him” number. The media, though their attempts to destroy Trump gave him the platform to turned that number around.

If the author of this piece wants to know what made Trump, he can look in the mirror.

this guy is parasitic...he attaches himself to people in causes he thinks he can get a free ride up on... Wayback he attach himself to Sarah Palin then he snake Sarah Palin

He trying to bottom feed from Beck

remember David Brock was originally a “conservative” then became a progressive founder of Media Matters

remember Arianna Huffington was originally “conservative” a then became a progressive founder of Huffington Post

Then started as parasites of the Reagan Revolution who basically later switch to whatever they thought would pay better

Beck like that.. and this guy Ziegler's like that

I’ve noticed a lot of that, people catching a ride up in conservative high winds, then turning to their true calling as soon as they reach the higher air.

I can’t think of too many examples of the other way which seem sincere-David Horowitz, maybe? I haven’t kept up with him.

It seems that being the “conservative” or even just “fair and balanced” alternative was just a business model from the start, for as long as it was useful. It seems that once they tied up that market, it was time to rework the business model, as that’s all it ever was.

LOL, YOU and the Trumpamaniacs are ignoring that Trump SUPPORTS PERMANENT LEGAL RESIDENCY IF NOT CITIZENSHIP FOR INVADERS! Do you not know what letting the “good ones” back in means?

One thing’s for sure, the true conservatives who will fight for our values even when it’s hard and the tide is against them, that is the ones who opposed Trump, have proven their worth. Many of them are in my signature.

I read the whole thing, unlike maybe many who will show up here.

And THIS part for sure pertained most directly to FR and FReepers:

"In short, once the average Trump supporter bought into the bogus “conservative” media narrative about him which absolved all his many past sins, he was basically unstoppable. After all, if he really wasn’t one of “us,” or was somehow bad for the “cause,” surely Rush, or Sean, or Bill, or Mark, or Matt would tell them that. Right?!"

He calls it "common sense Conservatism". We heard that before with "W". Barf! "Compassionate Conservatism".

Conservatism does not need a qualifier, unless one wants to RINOize it somehow and shift one's point of reference to the center. B

Yes, the American media are Trumps good friends and allies.

Brilliant.

Fitting that Ziegler ended up at mediaite. Brazen opportunist. I remember the Palin betrayal quite well.
