Republicans Are Addicted to Increasing Federal Spending

Three out of every four Americans say Congress should not increase spending. That’s not 73 percent of the Tea Party, or 73 percent of the Republican Party. That’s 73 percent of all Americans who say Congress should not increase federal spending.

Republicans seem to have missed that message.

Since 2013, the GOP has consistently proposed budgets that increase spending, and not by just a little. Consider that the Republican budget for the 2014 fiscal year, offered by then-Budget Committee Chairman Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., proposed $966 billion in base spending. This year, Speaker Ryan is pushing a budget that proposes $1.07 trillion.

That means in four years, Republicans have increased their proposal by $104 billion. Of course, these issues are never really black and white, and there are lots of arguments that can (and will) be made about how the sequester, the filibuster, and the Democrats are to blame for this increase in federal spending.

But, what is most troubling about the increased level of spending—it’s that these higher spending numbers are supported exclusively by Republicans, the party of fiscal discipline.

"The easy solution here then is for the govt to sell the land to privatize it."

I’m unsure which government you are talking about. If you’re talking about the feds owning the land then we’ve got to first make sure that the corrupt feds bought the land according to constitutional process.

Thanks for the post. I find myself reading the Daily Signal more as it hasn’t become 24 hour Trump/Cruz election site. That being said, it is said that your post only got 21 comments. Free Republic is turning into the TRUMP REPUBLIC. I am concerned that the movement’s eye is no longer on the ball anymore and it thinks all the solutions rest with electing Trump.

I don’t care if you wish to ensure it was not expropriated, as long as the govt footprint of any sort diminishes.

Only ONE supports auditing the FED: Trump.

ONE receives the most contributions from Federal Reserve Employees: Cruz. (Trump has received ZERO contributions from FED employees.)

Now, who do you think is serious?

don’t know where you get your facts but it is pretty easy to google this that shows Cruz has announced his desire to audit the FED http://fortune.com/2016/01/14/ted-cruz-wants-to-audit-the-federal-reserve/

Also, I see that for the 16,004 employees of the federal reserve, a whopping $2,000 has been given to Cruz, or about 8 dollars per employee.

Do you really seriously believe Cruz will change his policy for such a small amount of money when there are tens of millions of other dollars being donated?

You are having trouble getting past your little wishes for Trump, friend, as facts are real hell when you cannot read them.
