the docs had been basically forced to order all these pain meds due to some national directive from many yrs ago that demanded that docs and hospitals must treat pain, and it had to be written down and outcomes noted...judging people was out of the question....

so if a guy with a bad back just had to have 320mg of hydrocodone daily(true story) then that was that..

so what happened when these drugs were prescribed legally?.....did people act responsible?...no

did people make good decisions?...no...

did a legal does suddenly not become enough and more and more and more demanded?...yes...

I heard a story today that an end of life pt told her provider that she was not using her pain pills, oxy, because she was giving them to her grandson to sell for money, because that was all she had to give him....sad....

SOME people acted irresponsibly and made bad decisions - why should OTHER people be forced to suffer through treatable pain because of that?
