Having spent a lot of winter vacation time in northern Minnesota, and having a cousin who was an Alaska bush pilot for years, and a close friend who guides and has run trap lines in Alaska, lots of stupid things happen, but lots of these accidents are just completely freaky with no reflection on the victim.
My bush pilot cousin retired to the family farm when he got older and lost some of his reflexes. The trapper friend quit remote lines when he got old enough to notice his strength and endurance slipping. Alaska is very unforgiving.
