As far as I know, Obama originated that expression, or majored it. And certainly no one has a more heart connection to the American people than Barack Obama. Even his name would inform anyone of that.
John (I’ve already done that!!!) Kaisch seized on it since politicians of his ilk want to appear to be morally superior to all of us. I am sure he said it with a disappointed tragic tone in his voice.

Yes, indeed, it did originate with Obama. Who trots it out every time someone disagrees with him in his quest to 'fundamentally change America'. But expecting a Washington clone like Kasich to notice that is well, beyond my pay scale, to use another Obama cliché.
