Transcript of “Ted Cruz: Donald Trump is Responsible for What Happened in Chicago!” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmxBp4IFe_I

... be here and energy were seeing on the ground at the grassroots enthusiasm. What we’re seeing we’re seeing republicans unifying behind our campaign. We’re seeing republicans coming together. This race has become a two-person race between me and Donald Trump more republicans are unified behind our campaign.

And I also want to mention something about the events this evening. This is a sad day. Political discourse should occur in the country without a threat of violence. Without anger and rage and hatred directed each other. We need to learn have disagreements without being disagreeable. To have disagreements while respecting human being on the other side.

Earlier today over 30 people were arrested at one rally and then tonight as violence broke out the rally was cancelled altogether.

Now responsibility for that lies with protesters who took violence into their own hands.

But any campaign responsibility responsibility starts at the top. Any candidate is responsible for the culture of the campaign. And when you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that is facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty discourse.

(reporter question - not clear)

I think that decision should be based on public safety.

But I think it campaign bears responsibility for creating an environment. When the candidate urges supporters to engage in physical violence have punch people in the face the predictable consequence of that is that it escalates and today is unlikely to be the last such instance. We saw earlier today in St. Louis over 30 arrested. That’s not how our politics should occur.

You know the city of Chicago in 1968 saw some ugly days when politics descended into hatred and instability and even violence and it is my hope that in 2016 that we can appeal to our better angels avoid going down that road once more.

We already have "use of force" laws on the books for public safety. The Trump campaign violates none of them. Therefore, what you "think" has no bearing on situation.

Well, I certainly don’t see anything to disagree with there. I’ve noticed that the number of “brown shirts” at Trump rally’s seems to be on the steady rise. They are not anywhere close to the majority, but it is something to watch.

I confess that a Trump rally in Chicago would have probably been great television. It speaks, a bit to my three year old tag line, which a agree with now even more than when I first started using it.

That also hints at why I see this election as rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

Cruz: when you have a campaign that is facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press,

This is classic Cruz. Dump the whole bucket of slime on his opponent at the first opportunity. Disgusting to see Cruzies here defend him and his false allegations.
