Incredibly, I saw the “riot” (not much of a riot) from a block or two away at the age of 10 or so, driving back from visiting the Museum of Science and Industry with my grandfather. He decided not to take Lake Shore Drive home.

The point is simply that a large crowd of people refused to move or leave. They were throwing rocks and bottles. There was police response and it made people nervous
