Ugh, Lehman went bust. Later there was cash infused into the banking system, pretty much criticized in hindsight. Many banks didn't take the cash and many paid it back.

Even though the system was saved the real problem was the lack of federal prosecutions. All who sold those phony mortgage packages should have gone to jail.
