The importance of this story is NOT in the information it provides about Clinton, which should be harmful to her; rather it is the fact that sources high in the FBI are happily leaking it. They’re putting down a marker....either Clinton gets indicted, or the whole story gets leaked...creating a huge problem for the DoJ

An astute observation. This backs up the claims that the FBI would go to war if this wasn't prosecuted.

It could also mean that the DOJ is giving early signs that they do not intend to prosecute, thus the FBI counters with a leak.

Obama is slowly being edged into a position between a rock and a hard place. When the investigation is wrapped up, he’ll be looking at evidence of corruption that will be historic. It will also be a stain on his legacy. It’s going to be what he’s remembered for long in the future.
