Students at a Cambridge college have cancelled a party themed on Jules Vernes novel Around the World in 80 Days after complaints dressing up as another culture constituted cultural appropriation.
The decision by students at Pembroke College comes just days after Jesus College removed a bronze cockerel from the main hall over accusations it was racist as it celebrated a colonial past.

I know what they mean about cultural appropriation. I see Native Americans, people from India and Pakistan, and people from China all wearing Western European clothes walking down the street like it was no big deal. And a guy from Argentina, NOT dressed like a gaucho, wearing jeans, sneakers, a tshirt, and a ball cap!

Hang on!!! “Jesus College”? Isn't that, like, the most insulting, misogynistic, racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist name you can give to an institution of exploration, discussion, harmony? What ever happened to safe spaces?

I agree with you, but there’s absolutely nothing Donald Trump (or anything other candidate) can do about it.

It’s Friday night, so...
Wife and I will be going out to “culturally appropriate” some Mexican food at a local cantina.
I’ll let her know our Friday date nights are culturally insensitive.

Wait, don't Asians dress in the manner of Europeans? And so also do Africans, Indians, Pacific Islanders, etc., aren't they all guilty of cultural appropriation? I hereby proclaim that I am offended that they do not dress only in garb of their cultural heritage!

If they’re offended by college, just wait until they get to the real world.

Students at a Cambridge college have cancelled a party themed on Jules Vernes novel Around the World in 80 Days after complaints dressing up as another culture constituted cultural appropriation. Exactly. how many of these students were an upper class Victorian era English male? How dare they appropriate that culture?
