The Donald and Cruz agree on this point.
"We won with poorly educated. I love the poorly educated." Donald Trump in Nevada victory speech.
The difference is Cruz is hoping they are open to digesting more information.
...therefore, you show just how poorly educated you are
That's a disingenuous quote. I watched that speech. Trump listed all the demographics he won in the election. He listed Hispanics, Blacks, young people, and others. He mentioned "poorly educated", then caught himself, because he didn't want to make it seem he was disparaging their education. So he added the part about loving the poorly educated. It was awkward but unscripted. He was just going through the list of groups he won in the election according to exit polling. Big deal. He wasn't saying he wins because poorly educated people are his only supporters.
But one thing Cruz and his supporters are good at (probably because they are so much smarter than the rest of us) is twisting words.
"We won with poorly educated. I love the poorly educated." Donald Trump in Nevada victory speech.

If you're going to try and defame a man at least offer up a complete quote in context.
The following is the complete quote after Trump won when he was gushing all over his voters at a post rally. "We won the evangelicals. We won with young. We won with old. We won with highly educated. We won with poorly educated. I love the poorly educated. We're the smartest people, we're the most loyal people. You know what I really am happy about, because I've been saying it for a long time, 46 percent with the Hispanics, 46 percent, No. 1 with Hispanics. I'm really happy about that."
Then, with a wave of his hand, Trump signalled to everyone in the room - I'm assuming he included those poorly educated who were there - We're the smartest people, we're the most loyal ..."
What's more, Trump has always always said that he feels more at home with blue collar, workaday, people, like taxi drivers, construction workers. Hannity once took a stroll with him on NY city streets and it was obvious. Trump has also said he doesn't like rich people.
