To do the math, that means that they missed $15.5-plus million (not counting that most would have stayed in their dorms and paid another $15.5-plus million for dorm and food). Oh, and those fancy sweatshirts and t-shirts that the freshmen all buy? That’s probably $300,000 that the campus shop missed selling. So, it’s almost $32-million.
Will it come back next year? Don’t beat on it. Will you have to downsize some departments? It’s best not to bring this up right now...it’d really anger a number of professors to learn that 10-percent of their department might have to leave suddenly.
Your brandname is screwed up....you can’t get the ‘customers’ back...and money will get tight. You wonder now....would they be stupid enough to raise their yearly tuition from $10,600 to $11,600 to make up for the loss (starting in August of this year)? My humble guess is they would be that stupid.
