For months, news has trickled out of Missouri regarding the negative fallout from the fall student protests. The university capitulated in the face of a racial crisis wholly of the protesters manufacture (demanding a chancellors resignation over random racial incidents completely outside his control), and the chickens are truly coming home to roost. Previously, Ive posted about declining student applications and declining donations, yet the true dimensions of the financial disaster are only just now coming into focus. Fox Sports has obtained a copy of the interim chancellors letter to the university community: I am writing to you today to confirm that we project a very significant budget shortfall due to an unexpected sharp decline in first-year enrollments and student retention this coming fall. I wish I had better news. The anticipated declines which total about 1,500 fewer students than current enrollment at MU in addition to a small number of necessary investments are expected to leave us with an approximate $32 million budget gap for next year. A smaller entering freshman class will have continuing impact on finances as they progress toward their degrees at MU.

What about Black students who actually want to go there to get an education and not get caught up or dragged into the “Thug U” culture ?
Boycotting (silent or otherwise) is the purest form of free speech (silent or otherwise).
BLM speech is countered by other speech. I love it! Everyone gets their say.
Long live the 1st Amendment!
As you say, Mizzou is funded by taxpayer money. Part of Mizzou’s problems stem from the fact that Missouri’s conservative taxpayers have elected veto-proof conservative majorities in both houses of Missouri’s General Assembly. These majorities are not happy with the University’s past actions and are writing appropriation bills that reflect that unhappiness.
When you have #BLM mass stupidity on display, of course there will be a decline in intelligent people wishing to go there.

That works best when we have state’s rights being championed. If one state decides to diss its taxpayers, then those taxpayers are free to go to another state, leaving a largesse behind.
Once the feds control everything, then we have no place to go, which is the end game of the libs.
The problem with that is: Who gets to determine “rational thought”?
See, this is why the 1st Amendment is so beautiful. No one has to top-down decide what is “rational thought” or good thoughts or beneficial thoughts or whatever. People vote silently with their feet and their wallets.
It is a beautiful thing. I am loving it.
Maybe BLM will contribute since MU has been so subservient?

I am happy to see Mizzou’s appropriation reduced enough to have the desired effect.
