You must have watched a different video than I did. LaVoy was walking with his hands up, then placed his right hand down to his jacket twice as he was walking back in the general direction of his truck.
Good, bad or indifferent, LaVoy brought about his own death by not simply laying down and surrendering. These are cops with adrenaline pumping through their veins. One small move they perceive as threatening...you're done.
How do you know when the shots were fired? Also, Lavoy was entitled to self-defense (see my post above). Unless you believe shiny badges give special rights, this was not justified.
