Waaaaaaaaah

Rule 40 is what the delegates voted for back when Romney was running. That’s been the rule since before this election. All the candidates have known about that rule since the beginning.

Don’t expect Trump delegates to give up an advantage this election, just because some people don’t like the rule. If you want to change it, I suggest you change it for future elections, not this one.

Why would they want to do that? /s

Rule 40b will be challenged on the convention floor. The proposed replacement would automatically place in nomination any candidate that earned even a single delegate.

I don’t want to change anything. It’s not my party. I’m simply sharing a report from a real expert on the subject matter, Morton Blackwell, because I thought it would be of interest to most here.

These rules were written for ¡Yeb!
He was supposed to be The Designated Loser.
He was supposed to collect the 99 (doubled from last time) delegates from Florida in a winner take all and have it pretty much sewn up as did Romney and McCain before him.
Trump took their playbook, shoved their candidate out of the race and is now using their own rules to beat them.
I’m enjoying every minute of it.

Last time, Santorum won 11 primaries, but only had a majority of delegates in 6 states (if Wikipedia is to be trusted). I guess superdelegates made the difference.

Santorum released his delegates to Romney before the vote, but it's an indication of how much mischief such a rule can do.

It's confusing. The rule could be changed, though at the convention.

More here.

The two parties are totally and completely corrupted. They enjoy the power that they have in Washington where either on the majority or minority side of the equation. The career politicians win either way. Elections are just another reality program to allow the media moguls sell some more infomercials. We have entered the World Wide Wrestling Federation version of politics.

Your mistake is in assuming that these rules will work in the Donald’s favor. They may well not if he shows up with about 950 delegates, as my own forecasting shows to be quite likely in a scenario where NO ONE has the magic number.

This could turn into a clown show with no possibility of nominating anyone at all.

Great article. Thanks for sharing. The author writes dispassionately with regard to the current candidates.

How long before someone has to make a nasty remark about Trump, Cruz, or their supporters?

If I understand this it means only Cruz and Trump would have the needed 8 states. This is also why the establishment want Cruz to get to the second ballot
I miss mis under estimated Cruz.

Worth repeating.
