Republican elites are begrudgingly embracing Ted Cruzand hanging Marco Rubio out to dry.
Panicked at Donald Trumps dominance and dismayed by Rubios continued inability to do anything about it, some top Republican power brokers are turning to Cruz, putting aside their policy and personal misgivings to back the candidate they now openly label as their best hope to stop Trumps GOP takeover.
Most people now think Teds the best vehicle to defeat Trump, said Charles C. Foster, a Bush family loyalist from Houston who served on Jeb Bushs national finance team.

When did Bob dole back trump?
How did I miss that news?
There is no question they prefer Cruz over Trump
None whatsoever
All these pundits and some here who equate Trump and Cruz as equal in standing outsiders and anti GOPe have never been honest
Cruz is a lone wolf who made a name for himself quickly but he also goes along
This total war is not directed at Cruz too
Creep my butt. Cruz has been the stealth Bush all along. It’s just recently that the putrid stink of warmed over Bush has become so noticeable.
Glenn Beck is going to be iced out real quick.
He is going to lose his mind on the air over it.
That freak thought he was a king-maker.
Lord after last night embarrassment of Cruz disaster, Id stay far away from Cruz. Next tuesday, he will get a bunch of third places with zero delegates. Last night was Cruzs last chance. Its over for him.

Really disaster?
He lost 15 delegates to Trump and is only 102 delegates behind. When Rubio and Kasich exit the race Cruz will beat Trump in a 1 vs 1 contest. Long way to go trumpanzee.
Things are looking up for us, Dave.
The enemy of my enemy.
That would be pretty smart.
I maintain that Cruz set Rubio up to attack Donald so that he could stand to the side and appear to be above it all.
Rubio had a bite of success with it, but went wayyyy too far to the point that Trump won with ridicule.
I imagine Rubio is livid over how he was used and tossed by Romney and seeing Cruz benefit from it all.
Smart thing would be for Rubio to align with Trump, endorse him, and drop out of the race for Florida. Then have Rubio campaign for Trump.
Rubio can be nicely rewarded for it.
Us “trumpanzees” are gonna start slinging poo if you don’t watch it!!!
Cruz has always been establishment. Just read his and Heidi’s resumes. He is simply exposing himself. McCain went through a similar act 20 years ago or so.
Others might have a different word for it.
Creep meets Creep.
This hypothetical crap is just that Crap. When votes got to the polls, they had a chance to back Cruz, and guess what, they didn’t.
Only if they get out now. If Trump wins Florida there's no way for Cruz to stop him. Either Trump wins outright or it goes to a brokered convention and the GOPe decides.
Rest assured, in that scenario the GOPe won't be picking Cruz.
The best thing for Trump right now is for Rubio and Kasich to stay in this thing as long as possible.
Facing Cruz alone is much more problematic for him in these states you mentioned.
I think the GOPe thinks they can turn Cruz whereas Trump would tell them to go pound sand. That may be right, but I hope not.
One thing Cruz supporters never is able to answer is which states after next week is Cruz able to win? I find that fascinating. If Ted can’t win the southern states which are his bread and butter I can’t see where he goes from there.
Whatever happened to the republican party defeating the democrats during an election cycle?
