“If the GOPe seriously dislikes Trump and sees him as a sure loser for the party as a whole in November, they have only one good option, its Cruz or lose.

To rig the convention against Trump after he wins the caucuses and primaries would be a worse disaster.

Rubio needs to get out and Kasich, too.

They both need to endorse Ted so Cruz can make a run at Trump in Ohio and Florida, cause if Trump wins those winner take all states next week, I see Trump as rolling on to win the process.”

I know! And I don’t see what is so complicated about this situation. If they really want to beat Trump outright without the perils of a contested convention, at this point, the only option is for Kasich and Rubio to get out NOW and let Cruz take on Trump head to head. If Trump even wins only one of OH and FL next week, you are looking at either an outright Trump win or a contested convention.

"But then just being Trumpkins shows they weren’t very bright to begin with".

This is why your guy is losing.

Cruz would be tossed aside for Romney.

If Cruz is GOPe as many have suggested, then It will be Romney/Cruz or at least some attempt at it.

I understand globalism having been a reader of the John Birch Society material in the 1970’s as a teenager.

I think the business and banking elites are up to no good, the crony capitalists have our politicians bought whether they have a D or an R next to their name.

The elites don’t believe in national borders or national sovereignty.

Is Cruz secretly one of them or is Trump secretly one of them?

I hope neither but I’ll trust Cruz more than Trump right now

I would think they would move towards Kasich as the new Rubio before they move to Cruz. The establishment in the South though is not about to buck the strong support in the south for Cruz over Kasich in their efforts to dump Trump.None of it is working though because they are learning no one cares what they think. They are truly irrelevant as Mr Romney will attest.

Nope. GOPe are going all in with Cruz because they want to divide conservative with two plausible conservative candidates. Oldest GOPe trick in the book. United we stand, divided we fall (again).

Yes, Trump engaged and won on BJ Clinton while Ted Crush cut and run. A snapshot of how a general against Hillary would go. Trump wins. Cruz loses.

So the establishment amnesty pimp in the article loves him some Cruz? And Cruz accepts? This is Principled conservatism? Pathetic.

Its not interested in winning.

All the effort and money to defeat Trump is not being saved to defeat Hillary.

The party leadership has its priorities.

The GOP leadership was meeting with rich DEMOCRATS last weekend. They’re not even hiding it any more.

And it’s more clear than ever that Trump is anti-establishment.

Getting downright obvious to everyone.

Yep. And with Romney and Bush on the Cruz ship it’s more clear than ever that Trump is the ONLY authentic anti-establishment candidate.

Oh, come on. Trump just said in the last debate how “flexible” he is, and how “you have to be able to make deals” to get things done. Also, what, exactly, did he tell the NY Times? You make it sound like Trump is some paragon of conservatism.

Their plan isn’t for Cruz to be the nominee—just for him to get enough ballots to keep Trump from a first ballot victory. After that they’ll change enough rules and twist enough arms to keep Cruz and Trump from being the nominee.

They are stating this outright, so I don’t see why you would be confused at this point.

The candidate the establishment backs is NOT the person to vote for. Cruz/s choices for advisers and spokesmen say a lot about him......Glenn Beck, Mitt Romney, the Barbours, the Bushies - ugh! Getting into bed with these establishment types means doom for Cruz.

Man, you nailed it.

We, the people are very understanding....we will forgive and forget a candidates/ slip-ups, his failures and foibles. But what we won/t forgive is a candidate not understanding the fallout from his words and actions.

===========================================

Cruz learned nothing from Jebito/s flopola. GWB campaigning for Jebito, killed his ambitions. Yet, Cruz signed on the Bush brother.

The inanity of the Cruz/Glenn Beck/Romney union we/ll leave for later.

I don’t hate the man. I just don’t see the fascination about him ... other than the fact that he’s not a part of the establishment.

This is a time for choosing. With the GOPe clearly intent on dividing us again conservatives can no longer have their cake and it too by supporting both Trump and Cruz. Any conservative supporting Cruz is now doing the bidding of McConnell, Bush, Romney and the rest of the amnesty pimps.

There is only one authentic anti-establishment candidate now and that is Trump. With huge issues like TPP, amnesty and SCOTUS on the line there are no do-overs on this one. Choose wisely.

We tried to warn Cruz supporters early on that Cruz would have a tough time. It’s really hard to win the ‘G’ OP primary without ...

A. The Establishment’s help.

B. Access to wealth and talent outside the Establishment.

That was one of the reasons why I supported Trump to begin with.

In what alternative realities do these types of donations not gain influence for the donors. Also, there are numerous accurate reports of Ted seeking large donations from “New York Values” donors (including well known gay marriage advocate Paul Singer).

To help you get the fascination with Trump. He unplugs low-info patriots from the Matrix.

For example, Facebook is deep in the Matrix. People practically live there. The Pop-Entertainment culture, the college campus culture, the environmentalist crowd, etc. All of them are plugged into an ‘alternate reality machine’.

Conservatives tell low-info patriots to get better informed. That will only get you slow growth because the Matrix makes them mistrust the very word, ‘conservative’.

Trump’s moral flaws, his democrat past, his triangulation, everything conservatives hate about him also helps him sneak inside the Matrix and say, “Hey, I want to ban muslims. I want to waterboard. Remember Fort Hood? All of our soldiers will be armed. I will build a Great Wall ...”

So while many in the Matrix scoff at Trump, the patriots ask, “What’s wrong with those ideas?”

They unplug. And they see things differently from then on.

Pot is a gateway drug. And Trump is ‘gateway conservatism’.

‘In what alternative realities do these types of donations not gain influence for the donors.’

I think it reasonable for us to cut Cruz some slack at this point. If they bash Trump, I don’t blame a retort. But this forum has been a battlefield, and we should all start trying to mend bridges at least a little.

I supported Cruz against David Dewhurst. I have contributed to his presidential campaign and was on the Cruz train until December and he is still my second choice. We do not do ourselves a favor by being blind to the flaws of the candidates we support - Trump included. Blind support of any candidate, including Trump or Cruz is dangerous. I have cut Ted slack since 2012, but that should not include denying reality.
